In her past, Yulia was participating as an active mentor for new youth immigrants from Ethiopia.

She strongly believes that emotional difficulties related to change and challenges in a new environment can be solved by creativity and creation. Hence, she developed a unique educational program for young immigrants (aged 13-16), which was based on creating short movies on addiction to drugs and alcohol. The participants, coming from a low social-economic background, were experiencing new and exciting techniques of screenwriting, idea development, dramatizing and production. The program motivated them to focus on social impact activities, and engaged them to thrive to final video products they were proud of.
